For domestic and cross-border relocation services, Nelson Westerberg enhances its vast operational capacity and processes through our agent partnership with Atlas Van Lines and Atlas Van Lines Canada:

Atlas Van Lines

• Atlas Van Lines (AVL) is a van line owned by its agents and is the nation’s second largest van line and carrier of household goods with over 500 agents in North America, 84,000 shipments, at almost $700 million in 2008.
• Nelson Westerberg has historically been and continues to be one of the top revenue and quality producing agents in the network since joining Atlas in 1960. In 2007, Nelson Westerberg performed approximately 14,000 relocations, representing approximately 10% of AVL’s total corporate household goods shipment performance.
• Past and present leadership positions held within AVL communicates to our customers that our organization plays a high level role in shaping the way Atlas (and the relocation industry) does business. Current roles include:
  • John Westerberg, CEO & Chairman, Nelson Westerberg - member of the Atlas Van Lines Executive Committee (1978 to present); a director and stockholder since 1971
  • Stephen Westerberg, Vice President, Nelson Westerberg - is a member of the Atlas Van Lines Advisory Board to the Board of Directors.
• Owned by its agents, Atlas Van Lines is the ONLY van line with an unrestricted right to self-pack and haul its shipments. John R. Westerberg, current Chairman and CEO, played a pivotal role in implementing this important policy as well as pioneering the concept of Single Source Responsibility and its offspring Self-Pack, Self-Haul in 1965.

• AVL Canada is Canada's largest, most progressive and fastest-growing van line. With headquarters in Oakville, Ontario, Atlas Canada connects 150 full-service agents to provide transportation services.
